About Dr. Allen-Peck
“Right in the difficult we must have our joys, our happiness, our dreams: there against the depth of this background, they stand out, there for the first time we see how beautiful they are.” Rainer Maria Rilke |
BACKGROUND:
Dr. Allen-Peck received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Wheaton College, in Wheaton, IL. While a graduate student, she focused on training in the psychodynamic treatment of psychological issues and her dissertation explored relationality & resiliency. She completed her internship in the psychodynamic treatment of severe mental illness at the Institute of Living, in Hartford, CT. In addition to her training in clinical psychology, Dr. Allen-Peck is training to become a relational psychoanalyst, through the Brookhaven Institute for Psychoanalysis. In keeping with her relational psychodynamic roots, Dr. Allen-Peck is highly active in several professional groups (listed below). Her network of colleagues around the world are a source of support, challenge, and enrichment. She serves as an assistant coordinator for the psychoanalytic track for CAPS and presents regularly at their yearly conferences. Dr. Allen-Peck maintains her connections to the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital by serving as a guest lecturer, running an intern process group, and providing outpatient supervision to post-doctoral fellows. When she isn't working with patients or trainees, Dr. Allen-Peck may be found embracing life with her husband, children, and dog. She is an avid reader, NPR junkie, tea drinker, and runner (though pretty slow and easily distracted).
